“Great product, I can see many other applications for SepticSitter with my customers!”
SS: Has the system provided any other useful insights or information?
DM: Yes, I wasn’t aware of the role the seasonal water table played, just how impactful it was on drainfield levels. I can also see that when the levels in one trench go up they all go up and when the levels go down they all go down, its very symmetrical.
Right now most septic system designs are based on textbook theories. It’s a whole different thing when you have real world data and you can see the levels rise and fall in real time. With these kinds of real world insights, we are going to be able to design and install better working, onsite systems.
SS: How was your experience with the physical installation of the sensors ?
DM: Impressive! The sensors were not hard to install. I’m not that tech-savvy, so initially I was concerned that the installation and setup would be challenging. But it was simple! The instructions were very well thought out.
SS: What about getting sensors set up on the Hub and connected to the Cloud?
DM: That part was also very straightforward. It took less than five minutes and there was nothing confusing. It was harder to set up my iPhone than it was to set up the SepticSitter system!
SS: How have you found the SepticSitter Web Application?
DM: The WebApp makes it very simple to view the data on a phone or desktop computer. Its very real world. Everyone that I have showed the Web App and data to has been really impressed. One of my local regulators saw it and he said: ‘Wow, that’s totally cool’.
Before I installed SepticSitter, I was going to the site once every two weeks to check the levels manually. I suspected that there was groundwater infiltration, but did not know what was going on in between those site visits because there just wasn’t enough data. Now I have data points every 10 minutes on drainfield and groundwater levels that shows exactly what is happening.
