Iain is an electrical engineer with 25 years experience and co-invented many of Dynamic Monitor’s remote monitoring products. His technical specialities include: product design and prototyping, embedded electronics, microcontrollers, Internet of Things, low-power design, PCB design, high power LEDs, thermal analysis, 3D CAD and plastic enclosure design. Iain also has a thorough knowledge of the electronics distribution industry as a result of his past positions with Future Electronics, an international distributor of semiconductors.

Iain currently holds the position of Systems Innovation Engineer in the Automotive Business Unit of NXP Semiconductors (NXPI, NASDAQ) with a focus on the connected car, autonomous driving and unmanned aerial vehicles. His past roles with NXP, and its predecessor, Freescale Semiconductor, involved directing designs based on market knowledge and insight into current and upcoming trends.

In 2015 Iain was recognized by Freescale with the companies’ Diamond Elite Club Award for his work in bringing the Internet of Tomorrow Tour to fruition. The award was the highest honour bestowed by Freescale for delivering exceptional performance in the top 3% of their Global Sales and Marketing organization. The Internet of Tomorrow Tour (now rebranded by NXP as the Smarter World Tour) was an ambitious project to showcase the Internet of Things (IoT) in a mobile training and demonstration platform through visits to companies, universities, and major conferences. The project received numerous industry accolades and awards.

Rick is the President and Founder of ESSE Canada, an industry leading water resource management firm providing warranty, operation, maintenance, inspection and management services for drinking water and wastewater treatment clients in Ontario and Nova Scotia. ESSE has contracts to operate and maintain over 5000 residential and commercial onsite sewage systems throughout Ontario.

He is the Past President of the Ontario Onsite Wastewater Association (OOWA) and currently serves in a directory capacity.

Rick also founded ATAO Resources, an investment company with equity positions in several water and wastewater businesses in Ontario. Rick is an industry thought-leader, and frequent adopter of innovative, cutting-edge technologies which can offer environmental, operational and financial benefits to his customers and companies.

Rick has a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, Bachelor of Applied Science in Public Health, Post-graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, and is a certified public health inspector.

Paul is a managing partner of Island Capital Partners, an early stage venture capital fund that is in the business of investing in high potential entrepreneurs and startups.

With 30 years of experience in the software industry, Paul was the executive manager of a number of major NASDAQ and NYSE firms such as Autodesk, AMD, and Avid. During this time, he lead the organizational, process and cultural changes necessary to set strategic direction and guide organizations on the path to success.

Paul also led a number of pre-public and startup companies in the fields of web graphics and social networking as well as starting his career as an aerospace systems engineer.

Tom is a seasoned marketing leader who has worked with more than 120 clients in 18 different industries.

He spent two years as Director of Marketing and US Operations at ANUA, an international manufacturer of wastewater treatment and water reuse solutions. In this role, during the height of the US recession, he developed an omni channel content marketing plan for municipal, commercial/developer and residential markets which doubled web site traffic and leads in less than three months. Tom also developed and implemented an integrated marketing plan for ANUA, and oversaw a new product launch into the North American market.

Tom currently leads qualitative and quantitative research for DZone, identifying trends and uncovering insights on Big Data, Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud, DevOps, Integration, Java, Performance, Monitoring, Security, and Web.

Tom has an MBA in Marketing from Duke University, and is a Certified Marketing Automation Professional and a Certified Voice of the Customer (VOC) Professional.

Angus is a graduate researcher with the University of Guelph Machine Learning Research Group and the Vector Institute for Artificial Intelligence. He was a member of the inaugural cohort of NextAI, and received his Bachelors in Engineering Systems and Computing from the University of Guelph after several internships with Freescale Semiconductor, Inc. His research is focused on the design of robust machine learning models, and how they can be deployed at scale in embedded systems. He consults to SepticSitter regarding our rapidly expanding time-series data set, and how it can be leveraged to provide valuable new features and services for our customers. As more and more real-world data are collected automatically, septic problems will be anticipated far in advance and relayed to customers and system owners in natural language - e.g. "We've noticed that your drainfield levels spike high most Saturdays. If you typically do all your laundry on the weekend, we recommend spreading it out through the week to avoid overloading your septic system", or "Don't water the lawn over your septic drainfield for the next two days. Trench levels are high and rain is anticipated".  Other features in the pipeline include predicting the remaining lifetime of a septic system (in months or years), and the optimal time between service intervals. Angus is excited to help SepticSitter redefine the state-of-the-art in decentralized waste water system design, and further develop our international academic and industrial research partnerships.
